FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: bimetallic contact corrosion sensor consists of a piece of steel pipe 1 with a calibrated wall thickness. Copper covers/plugs 2 are attached to the ends of the piece of steel pipe 1 by a copper pin 3 through airtight dielectric spacers 4, and moisture-absorbing material 5, saturated with a salt solution and dried, is laid on the inner surface of the piece of steel pipe 1. A contact electrode 6 made from metal foil is then laid onto the moisture-absorbing material 5, and the cavity 10 of the bimetallic contact corrosion sensor is filled with any dielectric material, e.g., sand. Measuring conductors 8 and 9 are led from the inner surface of the piece of steel pipe 1, measuring conductors 10 and 11 are led from the inner surface of the copper covers/plugs 2, and a measuring conductor 12 is led from the contact electrode 6 made from metal foil. The piece of steel pipe 1 is the housing, detecting element and contact electrode at the same time, and the copper covers/plugs 2, together with the piece of steel pipe 1, form a steel-copper corrosion galvanic couple.
EFFECT: determining contact corrosion current and accurate rapid evaluation of cathode protection.
