FIELD: electronic engineering; sectionalized slow-wave structures of traveling-wave tubes.
SUBSTANCE: proposed slow-wave structure is built of two or more separate sections. Each section of slow-wave structure is essentially sequence of pins disposed within case perpendicular to its axis and spaced through angle 0° ≤ α ≤ 180° apart. Each pin mounts transit-time tube in the form of hollow cylinder disposed concentrically to case. Disk-shaped isolating metal walls provided with transit-time hole concentric to case for passing electron beam and microwave energy absorbers in the form of hollow cylinders are installed on adjacent ends of sections. Butt-ends of absorbers are attached to opposing sides of isolating wall concentrically to transit-time hole by means of heat-conducting layer. Hole accommodates additional transit-time tube. In the course of operation device affords high attenuation level of microwave energy at ends of adjacent sections (up to 18 dB), low level of microwave energy reflectivity from absorber (0.01 to 0.07) in frequency band up to 15 %, and high heat-dissipation capacity.
EFFECT: small size and mass of slow-wave structure for high-power traveling-wave tubes.
