FIELD: analytic chemistry, in particular determination of iron (II) content in solutions of pure salts and artificial mixtures containing very low iron (II) concentration.
SUBSTANCE: claimed method includes iron (II) converting to complex compound with xylenol orange in weak acidic medium. Then 0.2-0.4 ml of surfactant, 60-70-fold amount of xylenol orange and water up to volume of 10 ml are added in solution with pH 1.5-5, followed by heating on water bath at 80-98°C for 1-3 min.
EFFECT: method of increased sensitivity; decreased reagent consumption.
