FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry for the purpose of analysing solutions, containing iron (III) in very low concentrations. The method involves converting iron (III) to a complex compound with glycylthymol blue and a surfactant in a weak acid medium, where iron (III) at pH 3.0-5.2 is mixed with 260-360-times amount of glycylthymol blue, 0.1-0.4 ml of surfactant solution, obtained by addition to 0.2 g gelatine of water to 100 ml, and water to 10 ml volume with subsequent heating on a water bath at temperature 80 - 98°C for 3-8 minutes.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of analysis.
