FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development and designing of combustion chambers of piston engines with spark ignition. In proposed chamber, length of main cylindrical space is made equal to its diameter, and said size of length is determined depending on diameter of piston cylinder, piston stroke, compression ratio and overpiston clearance at following relationship l0=((s/(C0-l)-s0)*d2)(1/3), and maximum tolerable compression ratio C0 is found by empirical transcendental equation 1.118*((s/(C0-l)-s0)*d2)(1/3)-a+b*C0=0 where l0 is optimum length of main space of cylindrical chamber, s is piston stroke, C0 is tolerable compression ratio, S0 is size of overpiston clearance, d is diameter of piston cylinder, a and b are empirical coefficients determined when analyzing prototype engines type 4Ч 7,8/7,8 and ЗМЗ - 4063 for which a = 109.54 mm, b = 6.537 mm. Use of proposed combustion chamber is carburetor engine 4Ч 7,8/7,8 increases effective efficiency by 9.3 % and power and torque of engine by 10.2 % and reduces specific fuel consumption by 8.5 %.
EFFECT: provision of minimum surface of cooling of combustion chamber volume and maximum values of coefficient of utilization of heat of chambers and knockless compression ratio.
