FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: prolonged expansion is performed in a closed space. As a result, the rate of nitrogen acid formation decreases. Usage of the excess-air coefficient α≅2 allows a combustion temperature to be not higher than 2000°K that is low than that of active formation of nitrogen acid. The internal combustion engine has housing 1 with the profiled working surface and cylindrical rotor 2 mounted on the central shaft 3 and provided with rocking pistons 4. Combustion chambers 5 with spring-loaded check valves 6 are mounted inside the pistons. The valves separate the above piston space and combustion chamber 5. Shaft 8, rotor 2, and pistons 4 have passageways 16. Housing 1 is provided with passageway 17 for cooling fluid. Piston 4 has cylindric hollow 19. Combustion chamber 5, compression chamber 7, and expansion chamber 12 are provided with temperature gauges 20. Passage 16, passageway 3, and passageway of piston 4 have controllers 21 of the cooling agent flow rate. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
