FIELD: mobile communication systems for providing multimedia broadcast/multi-client service (MBMS).
SUBSTANCE: method and device for providing notification of MBMS service with consideration of transfer mode are proposed. Controlling radio network controller transfers information pertaining to transfer mode to servicing radio network controller, denoting point to point communication, radial-node point to many communication or "Not supported", to cell after cell. Servicing radio network controller determines service notification on basis of information relatively to transfer mode. Controlling radio network controller minimizes signaling load in Iur interface during transfer of information pertaining to transfer mode, corresponding to each cell, into servicing radio network controller.
EFFECT: efficient provision of MBMS-service, using efficiently limited radio communication resources.
