FIELD: measuring technique.

SUBSTANCE: remote method of measurement of oil product thick films onto water surface is based upon irradiation of water surface by optical radiation at three specific proving wavelengths, registration of signal reflected from surface and subsequent measurement of thickness of films from results of measurement of signal reflected from water surface at three specific probing wavelengths. To determine thickness d of film, probing wavelengths λ1, λ2 and λ3 are taken from condition of n21)/λ2=2n22)/ λ2, where n21), n22) are refractivity factors of oil product at wavelengths of λ1, λ2; and λ3 equals to oil product's maximal absorption wavelength. Thickness of 4-5 mcm can be measured by the method.

EFFECT: increased precision of measurement.
