FIELD: the invention refers to detectors of x-ray radiation based on ionization of gases.

SUBSTANCE: the task on which this invention is directed is in creation of a detector and a measuring mode providing increase of ratio signal/noise due to reducing the influence of a weak background noise having an unbroken spectrum. The proposed detector has a gas sphere confined in a closed area, an exterior wall limiting the indicated area and electrodes for collecting formed electrical charges. At that the indicated closed area has the first detector region, the second detector region and a wall fulfilled out of a net or out of separate wires with possibility to have the cathode's potential and located between the first detector region and the second detector region so that the first detector region is confined inside the indicated wall. The second detector region separates the first detector region from the exterior wall limiting the indicated confined area. At that the radiation detector has the first electrodes for collecting free charges in the first detector region and the second electrodes for collecting free charges in the second region. The given detector realizes the corresponding mode of measuring radioactive radiation.

EFFECT: provides increase of ratio signal/noise.
