FIELD: physics; measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation detector, particularly electromagnetic radiation of high capacity. Detector has conversion section, which includes cathode (3), for conversion of radiation (R) incident on conversion section into electrons (E) by means of photoelectric effect. Detector also includes gas electron multiplier (4) for creation of electronic avalanche of electrons (E), which are created in section of conversion and enter the gas electron multiplier (4), note here that gas electron multiplier (4) comprises a first electrode (5), dielectric layer (6) and second electrode (7), thus, first electrode (5) is located on the first side of dielectric layer (6) near the conversion section, and second electrode (7) is located on the second side of dielectric layer (6), opposite the first side. Gas electron multiplier (4) has several orifices (9), filled with gas, note here that said orifices (9) pass through first electrode (5), dielectric layer (6) and second electrode (7). Besides, detector includes detector anode (8) near second electrode (7) for detecting electron avalanche. Detector anode (8) passes next to each orifice (9) of gas electron multiplier (4) from second electrode (7) over orifice (9) so, that orifice on one side of completely closed with detector anode (8). Position of detector anode (8) is shifted downward relative to plane of second electrode (7), note here that one or more orifices (9) pass through detector anode (8).
