APPARATUS FOR SQUEEZING OF SAP FROM LICORICE ROOTS AND ROOTSTOCKS Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A23N1/00 

FIELD: equipment used in food-processing, canned food, perfume and pharmaceutical industry for producing of syrups, saps, beverages, extracts and licorice raw material in the form of flakes.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame, at least three pairs of rolls, mechanism for simultaneous adjustment of squeezing force applied to root mass between pairs of rolls, mechanism for changing gap between roll pairs, feeding roll for directing root mass onto first pair of rolls, mechanism for restricting movement of upper and lower parts of frame, receiving table, squeezed sap collecting chute, shear plate cutter drum located within housing, trough and screw for discharging flakes from root mass. Feeding roll is mounted on upper part of frame for displacement above surface of receiving table. Frame part movement restricting mechanism is formed as pair of screws and stops. Receiving table, sap collecting chute, screw, trough and cutter drum housing are mounted on lower part of frame. Sap collecting chute has nipple for directing sap into special container. Shear plate is positioned on lower part of frame so as to be moved toward cutter drum. Cutter drum is furnished with replaceable set of S-shaped reversible knives with cutting edges. Feeding roll is coupled with upper part of frame through pair of carriers. Each carrier is connected to upper part of frame through adjustable tie-rod. Rolls are made equal in diameters. One of rolls provided on upper part of frame and one of rolls provided on lower part of frame have corrugations. Mechanism for simultaneous adjustment of squeezing force applied to root mass is made in the form of power cylinder mounted by means of brackets between upper and lower parts of frame. Rolls on upper and lower parts of frame have individual group drives.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in producing of licorice raw material from licorice roots and rootstocks.
