FIELD: stream transfer of information environment in networks based on packet data transfer, in particular, buffering mechanism.
SUBSTANCE: client device contains decoder 120 and pre-decoder buffer 110, which receives stream of packets being transferred from source server through packet transfer network. Pre-decoder buffer 110 has variable size and has variable initial buffering time for receiving packets transferred from source server before decoding in decoder. Initial buffering time and size of pre-decoder buffer may be dynamically adapted for improving reproduction characteristics using the source server.
EFFECT: during network packet transfer delays are prevented formerly resulting from network operation and functioning of transporting protocol.
