Disclosed is an apparatus for decoding a media stream, configured to receive a media stream comprising segment signalling information and a plurality of segments, wherein the plurality of segments comprises encoded and non-encoded segments. The segment signalling information comprises identification of two segment groups, each comprising a segment, identify a segment group using the segment signalling information in the media stream, identify the segment decoding algorithm for the segment group, identify a decoding key for the segment group, and decode each encoded segment within the segment group using the segment decoding algorithm and the decoding key.
