FIELD: electro-measuring equipment engineering.

SUBSTANCE: alternating testing signal is generated. It is injected into line being diagnosed. Strength of magnetic field, created by alternating testing signal, is measured by means of one-element transformer of magnetic field to electric signal. Transformer by means of operator is moved along the route. Simultaneously it is used for scanning, transverse relatively to route direction. In process of scanning, visualization of distribution of magnetic field is performed on screen, in correspondence with at least two, following one another, directions of transformer movement. Amplitude of signal from output of transformer is transformed either to brightness signal, or to color signal, or to brightness-color signal of appropriate row on the screen. Synchronization of row scanning on screen is performed by means of measuring its position on scanning trajectory by means of position sensor held on operator.

EFFECT: increased precision of determining positions of damaged parts.
