FIELD: production of reduced metal with the aid of carbon-bearing compacts.
SUBSTANCE: compacts are made by lumping the powder mixture of metal oxide, such as iron ore and coal at high content of volatile agents - 35% and more. Compacts are produced at pressure of 2 t/cm2 or higher and porosity reduced to 35% and lesser, thus ensuring transfer of heat inside compact at stage of high-temperature reduction in rotary-hearth furnace; sintering of reduced metal is effected over entire mass of compact.
EFFECT: enhanced crushing strength of reduced metal.
