FIELD: quantum electronics; volume discharge generating devices.

SUBSTANCE: proposed volume discharge generating device has discharge chamber incorporating main electrodes connected to pulse voltage generator and at least one pre-ionization discharge electrode that has metal conductor which is mounted in insulating tube closed on one end and is disposed along one of main electrodes. Size of pre-ionization discharge electrode enables disposing it also along lateral side of other main electrode. Insulating tube is closed on other end; unipolar or variable-polarity power supply is used as pulse voltage generator.

EFFECT: enhanced uniformity of main discharge and operating reliability of device using both unipolar and variable-polarity main-discharge supply voltage.
