FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quantum electronics and can be used in gas discharge devices, particularly in electrodischage pulse-periodic lasers with transverse discharge. The device comprises a discharge chamber with an electrode section, consisting of two main electrodes and a preionisation discharge electrode. One of the main electrodes is semi-transparent, and the preionisation discharge electrode in form of a metal run is separated from it on the reverse side of a dielectric plate. The second main electrode is semi-transparent. On its reverse side there is another preionisation discharge electrode in form of a metal run and separated from it by a dielectric plate. Both preionisation discharge electrodes are electrically connected. The power supply is a unipolar or alternating or oscillating pulse voltage generator.
EFFECT: obtaining uniform discharge in a device for generating volumetric discharge with simultaneous increase in reliability of its operation when using unipolar or alternating supply voltage, as well as obtaining a compact and modular structure of the device.
