FIELD: metallurgy and mechanical engineering, in particular, thermal processing with the use of concentrated energy source of parts made from iron-and-carbon-bearing alloys and designed for various applications.
SUBSTANCE: method involves reinforcing parts made from ferritic-pearlitic iron and having basic hardness of 174 HB, by initially applying light-absorbing coat onto surface; exposing to laser power P=730 W at the velocity of irradiation spot relative to part surface under process of 6 mm/s and spot diameter of 3.5 mm. Apparatus has laser emitter comprising irradiating tubes arranged in the form of packet consisting of a number of rows. First and second outer rows of irradiating tubes are arranged in the form of scalene octahedrons, third and forth rows are made in the form of equilateral tetrahedrons. Method and apparatus allow reinforced layer depth of 0.5-0.6 mm to be provided. Medium hardness after laser processing is 435 HB. Wear- resistance and service life are increased by 2-4 times.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of method and apparatus, increased wear-resistance and prolonged service life of apparatus.
