FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal treatment of steel parts by laser with wide radiation spot and can be used in machine building to ensure high hardness and wear resistance of surface layer of steel parts. Summary of invention consists in fact that part surface is heated by focused laser beam with wide radiation spot to temperature in interval AC1beg-AC1fin, further continuous cooling of part surface into metal mass with cooling liquid, supplied directly to surface area, heating temperature of which is in interval AC1beg-AC1fin, using tubes to form, after cooling in surface layer, a wide hardening track with martenite structure, wherein the tubes are configured to control the flow rate of the cooling liquid through each of them and are configured to change their mutual position along the direction of relative movement of the laser beam and the processing object.
EFFECT: obtaining a finely dispersed structure of martensite and high uniformity of properties of the hardened layer in the process of laser treatment with a wide path of hardening.
