FIELD: electric measuring technique.

SUBSTANCE: method allows revealing short-circuited turns in electric windings with massive steel frame, for example, in solenoids and in windings of step engines. Method is based upon application of changing frequency and upon measurement of parameters of resonant circuit. Availability of short circuits is judged from frequency maximum of parameter measured. Changing frequency voltage is applied to one of windings. Resonant circuit is formed between windings by means of creation of magnetic coupling between them as well as connection to provide grounding between two outputs of windings. Q-factor is used as measured parameter of resonant circuit.

EFFECT: improved truth of finding of short-circuited turns.
