FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves examining patient by using magnetic resonance tomograph. Hip joint and knee joint are studied in coronal, axial and skew-sagittal planes. Zones distinguished by hyperintensive signal, showing correlation to fluid, are found on tomograms in T2 VI and IP GRE sequence. Zone of maximum area is selected from found zones set and optical density of this zone is measured. Pixels of minimum and maximum optical density are found on the zone. The values are taken for fluid density boundaries specific for given patient. Pixels having optical density belonging to the mentioned range are marked on all zones. The marked pixels are summed up in Nco cutoffs over each cutoff of scanned series. The number of virtual marked pixels in single inter-cutoff space. The virtual marked pixels are summed up in the inter-cutoff spaces Nic. One voxel volume in a cutoff as Vvox co and one virtual voxel volume in inter-cutoff space Vvox ic are calculated. The fluid volume in joint is calculated as Vgen. Fluid volume in articulation cavity Vgen being greater than 1.3 ml, synovitis of a joint is diagnosed.

EFFECT: determined fluid quantity in articulation.
