FIELD: medical science.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to roentgenology, orthopaedics, neurology, traumatology, and can be used for examination of nerve elements of brachiplexes according to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Examination of the nerve elements of the brachiplexes according to MRI data is carried out by obtaining, by means of an MRI scanner with a magnetic induction of 3 T, two series of images of the brachiplexes in a single scan with two echo times of 9.1 ms and 72 ms, with section thickness 3 mm, voxel size 0.3×0.3×3 mm, field of view 220×220 mm, slice space 10%, number of slices 45, scanning time 10 minutes 9 seconds using frequency-selective fat suppression. Signal intensity is measured on each series from the anterior branches of the spinal nerves forming the brachiplex from both sides at 1-2 cm from the spinal ganglion. T2-relaxation time and a median proton density are calculated by developed formulas. Normal values are T2-relaxation time 116.9 to 155.8 ms, proton density median 445.9 to 483.
EFFECT: method enables obtaining the quantitative data of the nerve elements of the brachiplexes providing the more reliable information on their state ensured by the developed sequence for obtaining the relaxometry data – T2-relaxation time and proton density for the nerve elements of the brachiplexes.
