FIELD: vibration engineering.
SUBSTANCE: air-operated vibrator comprises housing and unit for vibration excitation mounted inside the housing with a spaced relation to it. The unit has the base cooperating with the housing, striker connected with the base via the flexible diaphragm to define the chamber for direct stroke, gas distributing system, and flexible members of return stroke. One end of the members cooperates with the striker, and the other end of the members cooperates with the support mounted on the striker for permitting it to arrest movement apart from the striker and to abut against the housing when the direct stroke chamber is filled with fluid. According to one of the versions, the gas-distributing system comprises discharging passage made in the base of the branch pipe mounted in the striker, supplying passage that is in coincidence with the step space, and valve mounted in the space for permitting it to cover one of the passages and open the other.
