SUBSTANCE: proposed plate muffler has rectangular section housing rigidly connected with end face intake and exhaust branch pipes, sound absorbing plates made of skeleton containing perforated sheets filled with sound absorber and arranged in housing at definite pitch and forming flat channels in housing. Perforation factor of sheets is taken equal to or more than 0.25, and acoustically transparent material is placed between sound absorber and perforated sheets. Ratio of width B of muffler housing to its height lies within optimum range of values: B/H=0.4-4.0. Ratio of width B of muffler housing to its length L lies within optimum range of values B/L=0.53-2.0; ratio of height H of muffler housing to its length L lies within optimum range of values H/L=0.33-2.0. Ratio of width of plate to width B of muffler housing lies within optimum range of values Ratio of width A of flat channels between plates to width B of muffler housing lies within optimum range of values A/B=0.05-0.5. Ratio of free section area F of muffler to its length L lies within optimum range of values F/L=0.2/1000-0.2/1500.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of noise silencing.
