FIELD: mechanical engineering; mufflers.
SUBSTANCE: proposed plate muffler has square-section housing rigidly connected with end face intake and exhaust branch pipes, sound absorbing plate made of skeleton containing perforated sheets filled with sound absorber and arranged in housing at definite pitch and forming flat channels. Perforation factor of sheets is taken equal to or more than 0.25, and acoustically transparent material is placed between perforated sheets, and sound absorber. Ratio of side A of inner section of muffler housing to its length L lies within optimum range of values: A/L=0.25-0.9; ratio of side D of outer section of muffler housing to its length L lies within range of optimum values D/L=0.26-0.95; ratio of width b of plate to side A of muffler housing lies within range of optimum values b/A=0.05-0.6; ratio of width "a" of flat channels between plates to side A of muffler housing lies within range optimum values a/A=0.05-0.5.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of noise silencing.
