FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in cooling systems of internal combustion engines. Proposed thermostat has housing with fitted-in thermocouple, with main valve and bypass valve designed to control supply and release of cooling liquid. Housing is provided with threaded hole in its upper part to receive adjusting screw with definite radial clearance. Said adjusting screw has blind hole in lower part in which piston of thermocoupled is installed forming hinge joint. According to second design version, housing is provided with stepped threaded hole in upper part in upper threaded part of which adjusting screw is installed and, thermocouple piston with definite radial clearance is installed in lower part to engage with adjusting screw. According to third design version, housing is provided with threaded hole in upper part which accommodates adjusting screw whose lower part is made in form of shank of smaller diameter installed with definite radial clearance in blind hole of thermocouple piston engaging with shank. According to fourth design version housing is provided with threaded hole in upper part in which adjusting screw 16 with through axial hole is fitted in which shank arranged in upper part of piston is installed with definite radial clearance.

EFFECT: improved accuracy of control of opening temperature of thermostat main valve owing to use of adjustable-in-height hinge connection of housing and thermocoupled piston, simplified design and manufacturability of device.
