FIELD: metallurgy, namely processes and equipment for making castings used for producing quickly wearing parts such as grinding bodies of ball mills, changeable parts of mining, metallurgical and gas-oil producing industry branches.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of melting in furnace cast iron of next chemical composition, mass %: carbon, 3.1 - 3.9; silicon, 2.10 - 2.65; manganese, 0.60 - 0.80; chrome, 0.80 - 1.00; nickel, 0.65 - 1.0; copper, 0.80 - 1.00; vanadium, 1.00 - 1.60; iron, the balance; adding boron-containing and cerium-containing alloy directly into casting ladle in order to provide content of boron in cast iron 0.02 - 0.06 mass % and content of cerium 0.02 - 0.05 mass %.
EFFECT: possibility for producing iron cast pieces with high hardness uniform in the whole volume of pieces and their increased wear resistance, relative low cost of cast iron pieces due to lowered content of high-cost and deficient alloying elements.
