FIELD: methods of underground or surface mining, particularly salt deposit development.

SUBSTANCE: method involves performing retrospective analysis of topographical survey made in salt dump zone after karst deformation appearance; separating predictable watercourse areas; forming geophysical profiles spaced 20-100 m apart across predictable watercourses on salt dump surface; carrying-out electrical survey measurements by electric profiling after spring tide termination; performing shallow seismic investigation by common-depth-point method in the case of high-resistance zone typical for karst caverns detection; contouring karst cavern in accordance with shallow seismic investigation results; determining karst cavern location depth; drilling test holes; determining karst cavern volume and liquidating thereof by karst cavern filling with salt from adjacent dump zone along with periodical saturated brine pouring over salt surface.
