FIELD: heat-mass exchange equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water cooling devices for circulating water supply system. Proposed mechanical draft tower consists of housing with upper and lower tiers of sprinklers, drop pan installed over upper tier of sprinklers, upper water distributor with sprayers provided with nozzles directed to upper tier of sprinkler arranged under lower tier of lower water distributor with sprayers provided with nozzles with spray cone angle not less than 2/3π, main line delivering heated water to upper and lower water distributors with upper and lower shutoff and regulating valves, and water collecting reservoir in lower part of housing. Upper water distributor is arranged between upper and lower tiers of sprinklers, and axes of nozzles of sprayers of lower water distributor are pointed to water collecting reservoir. Angle between direction of axes of nozzles of lower water distributor and vector of free fall acceleration is determined depending on spray cone angle αc≤αn/2 where αc is angle between direction of axis of nozzle and vector of free fall acceleration; αn is spray cone angle. At least one fan is installed in shell in lower part of side wall of housing, and air deflector is installed at opposite wall at angle to horizontal plane not exceeding π/4. Air deflector is installed on shaft arranged parallel to side walls for rotation in bushings secured in walls of tower. Air guide shell is built into side wall opposite to fan. Air guide shell and fan shell are provided with inclined cut at angle equal to angle between air deflector in its extreme positions and horizontal plane. Fan is arranged in upper part of housing over drop pan.

EFFECT: provision of high efficiency of water cooling at positive temperatures of air getting into cooling tower, reduced consumption of power at below zero air temperatures.
