FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: new two-step method for production of ethylenediamine-N,N'-dipropionic acid in form of dihydrochloride includes reaction of β-chloropropionic acid calcium salt with ethylene diamine in presence of calcium oxide in amount to maintain pH 9-11 and at not higher than 85°C. Then reaction mass is cooled and acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid to pH 1.0-1.5, held at decreased temperature and finished product is isolated with yield of 40 %. Structure of finished product is suggested by C13 NMR spectra. Compound of present invention is useful as chelating agent in chemistry, agriculture, medicine.
EFFECT: method of increased processability and efficiency, decreased energy consumption.
