FIELD: bifunctional chelating agent production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a bifunctional chelating agent derived from ethylenediamine, namely ethylenediamine-N-monopropionic acid sulfate salt, which can be used as a synthon for the synthesis of modified polymers, peptides, proteins, as well as polyfunctional complexing reagents for analytical chemistry, biology, medicine. A method for producing ethylenediamine-N-monopropionic acid of the sulfate salt is presented, which consists in the interaction at an elevated temperature of ethylenediamine, acrylic acid and an inorganic sulfate derivative and is characterized in that to an aqueous solution of acrylic and sulfuric acids at a molar ratio of 1:1.05-1.08: 1 in the presence of sulfuric acid in an amount equimolar to ethylenediamine, ethylenediamine is added dropwise with stirring for 15-20 minutes at such a rate that the temperature inside the reaction mass does not exceed 45°C, after which the reaction mixture is heated to a temperature of 75-80°C and kept at this temperature and stirring for 10-10.5 hours, then cooled and isolated ethylenediamine-N-monopropionic acid sulfate salt with a yield of 45-50%, mp=230°C, by filtration.

EFFECT: invention provides for the production of ethylenediamine-N-monopropionic acid sulfate salt with a yield of 45-50% under the conditions of classical carboxyalkylation of ethylenediamine.
