FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: according to the claimed method an interaction of a water solution of monochloroacetic acid with glycerin is realised in the presence of calcium hydroxide at an increased temperature and mixing. Then the reaction mass is acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid, processed and the target iminodiacetic acid is extracted. The method is characterised by the fact that initially the stoichiometric quantity of calcium hydroxide is added to the initial water solution of monochloroacetic acid. Then the glycerin solution, preliminarily heated to 73-75°C and taken in a quantity equimolar with respect to monochloroacetic acid, is introduced into the reaction mass in portions, added together with portions of calcium hydroxide until pH 9-11 is set and with the support of the reaction mass temperature in the interval of 65-70°C. After mixing at the same modes, the reaction mass id processed with the stoichiometric quantity of hydrochloric acid at a temperature of 85-90°C until pH 1.8-2.0 is set, cooled to 5-10°C and the target product is extracted by filtration.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to simplify the process of obtaining iminodiacetic acid.
