FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to alkylation of aromatics with higher olefins for use of resulting alkylaromatic compounds in production of surfactants. Process is accomplished via interaction of C3-C30-olefins with aromatic hydrocarbon in presence of alkylation catalyst in a cascade of reactors consisting of at least two reactors, the first one being charged with 80% of aromatic hydrocarbon, while at least 40% of olefins are introduced intermediately after the first reactor. Alkylation proceeds in liquid phase at 100 to 250°C on heterogeneous catalyst selected from acid clays, acid ion-exchangers, acid metal oxides, sulfurized metal oxides, supported heteropolyacids, and zeolites. Preferable C3-C30-olefins are those with average branching degree at least 0.5 and which are obtained by bringing C4-olefin blend into contact with metathesis catalyst to form olefin blend containing 2-pentene and/or 3-hexene, which are then dimerized in presence of dimerization catalyst to form blend containing C10-C12-olefins.
EFFECT: improved technology and prolonged catalyst lifetime.
