FIELD: recognition of ships at sea which may be brought to dangerous approach.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in measuring the coordinates of each ship for estimation of present relative coordinates, relative speeds and relative acceleration of both ships. Then, direction of rays from point of position of the first ship which are tangent to safe zone of the second ship is determined and is compared with present relative course of the first ship; rate of approach of relative course of the first ship with the rays from point of position of the first ship which are tangent to safe zone of the second ship is calculated and decision is taken pertaining to probability of dangerous approach of two maneuvering ships if this rate of approach is positive.

EFFECT: possibility of recognition of dangerous approach of two ships in due time both during their rectilinear motion and in maneuvering.
