FIELD: protection of silver articles against tarnishing during storage.
SUBSTANCE: proposed composition contains nonhydrolyzable polymer in which anhydrous absorbent is homogeneously dispersed in the amount of from 0.01 to 5 mass-%; this absorbent is selected from group consisting of silicate of alkaline metal and zinc oxide in combination with 0-1% of inert activating agent on the condition that rate of penetration of steam is so high as that of low-density polymer. Article of arbitrary shape and size is made from base polymer containing synthetic resin including homogeneously dispersed absorbent made from zinc oxide and alkaline metal silicate; each in the amount of from 0.01 to 5 mass-% of polymer and from 0.0 to 1 % of inert activating agent; size of absorbent and activating agent ranges from 1 mcm to 53 mcm; rate of penetration of resin is equal to rate of penetration of steam; it is equal to that of resin having neither absorbent nor activating agent. Method of protection of silver article against tarnishing consists in placing this article in container made from hot-shaped synthetic resin whose composition is given in the Specification.
EFFECT: maintenance of brightness of silver articles for at least one year.
