FIELD: electric power engineering, possibly apparatuses for heating water in open reservoirs, room heating.

SUBSTANCE: electrode type water heater includes base of heat resistant dielectric material having seats where two annular different-diameter electrodes (zero and phase) are fixed coaxially in the same plane. Said electrodes restrict toroidal space. In order to control electric current, shielding sleeve in the form of limited toroidal space, adjacent to electrically conducting surfaces of said annular electrodes, being insulator and sliding up-down along height of annular electrodes by means of mechanical force for closing-insulating or opening-exposing electrically conducting surfaces. Any position of shielding sleeve corresponds to open electrically conducting surface for wide temperature range heating of water. Cylindrical shielding hood closes/shields restricted toroidal space together with said annular electrodes.

EFFECT: enlarged functional possibilities, prevention of risk of electric current striking at heating water.
