FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves taking eye fundus photographs. Diagnosis is set by interpreting eye fundus darkening degree on color photographic image produced in noncontact way through pupil with fundus camera having digital camera by applying low intensity xenon flash gun. Degree of retina darkening caused by lenticular opacity shadow is determined from darkening intensity values in % automatically printed on photographic picture as camera output. Retina darkening intensity being less than 10% on photographic picture, initial optically significant cataract stage is to be diagnosed.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in diagnosing optically significant cataract cases.
