FIELD: steel metallurgy, namely processes and equipment for continuous casting of billets.
SUBSTANCE: billet continuous casting machine includes intermediate ladle with calibrated metering nozzle onto which protection cylindrical refractory tube is mounted and it is spaced by distance h = (0.38 - 0.46)d (d - outer diameter of nozzle) from melt level in mold. Said tube has tapered cut formed in its lower end and inclined relative to metal level in mold by angle 43 - 47°.
EFFECT: improved quality of cast billet due to lowered contamination degree of steel, shortened time of emergency idling periods.
