FIELD: methods for detecting authentic and fake documents with different means of forgery protection.

SUBSTANCE: the method is realized by means of a device for checking authenticity of document, including source of radiation of visible non-polarized light for possible detection of magnetic mark and visualization of its image, on optical axis of which polarizer and magneto-optical sensitive element are mounted, the element made in form of film of bismuth-containing ferrite-garnet, applied to transparent substrate, analyzer, mounted on the way of light stream reflected from magneto-optical sensitive element, source of constant magnetic field for magnetization of controlled zone of sheet material, second source of visible non-polarized light for visualization of visible image of zone being researched, positioned on one side with first light source relatively to plane of sensitive element, image registration block, optically connected to analyzer, and block for controlling lighting modes of the zone being examined.

EFFECT: increased trustworthiness when determining authenticity of a document protected from forgery due to increased number of evaluation signs.
