FIELD: mechanical engineering, particularly for drilling bit production.

SUBSTANCE: method involves using control device. Control device comprises base to be installed on machine spindle and having lid rigidly secured in upper part thereof. Insert is movably connected to concave surface inside lid and has mating convex surface. The convex surface includes dihedral prism with limiting basic pin on one face thereof. The prism is adapted to install and secure drilling bit leg blank. To provide initial quick and reliable control outer axle surface having ball race-track is completely machined. Then dihedral member having basic orifice in one face thereof is treated and said dummy blank is installed in device interior as nuts and bolt of stop members are released. After that centering cartridge secured to pin is delivered and adjustable centering cartridge jaws are brought together to provide contact thereof around race-track on dummy blank axle and to direct thereof in space along spherical surface of the lid. Linear basic pin position is fixed in dihedral prism plane. Said insert position is fixed on said spherical surface. Then centering cartridge jaws are brought apart and dummy blank is released and removed. After that common leg blank having non-treated axle is installed, secured and axle is machined.

EFFECT: increased efficiency.
