FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to reveal gumming of spray tips of nozzles in diesel engine. Proposed method to check degree of gumming of nozzle spray tip comes to the following: metered out amount of fuel is delivered into combustion chamber through nozzle under testing, and flow capacity of nozzle is determined before and immediately after cutoff of fuel delivery degree of nozzle gumming is determined by change of flow capacity of nozzle. Hydraulic characteristics of spray tip are checked on constant-pressure stand. For this purpose all pumping units of high-pressure fuel pump are connected into one accumulating reservoir.
EFFECT: reduced labor input and increased controllability of process of diagnosing condition of diesel engine nozzles.
