FIELD: projection optical systems.

SUBSTANCE: projection optical system has light source, color wheel, two focusing objectives, fiber-optic element, microscopic mirror unit, projection objective and screen. Fiber-optic element has optical fibers integrated by common transparent envelope. The element has input and output edges. Input edge of fiber-optic element is made at angle to side surface of fiber-optic element. Light source is disposed at angle to side surface of fiber-optic element and it is made for direction of radiation through color wheel and transparent side surface of fiber-optic element to microscopic mirror unit. Projection objective is disposed between fiber-optic element and screen; the former is made for projection of radiation coming from output edge of fiber-optic element to screen.

EFFECT: smaller sizes of system; simplified projection objectives; application of wider aperture light source.
