SUBSTANCE: invention relates to brakes of mechanical vehicles with widely changeable operating conditions. Proposed drive unit with cooling circuit has hydrodynamic retarder brake with rotor equipment with guide vanes and stator also furnished with guide vanes. Hydrodynamic retarder brake is arranged in cooling circuit. Retarder brake includes device to discharge remaining liquid at no braking conditions overcoming external pressure created by cooling circuit.
EFFECT: considerable reduction of hydraulic impacts at changing over retarder brake from braking to brake release conditions and vice versa.
