DRIVE UNIT WITH RETARDER BRAKE Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC B60T10/02

Abstract RU 2314946 C2

FIELD: mechanical engineering; transport engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles operating under heavily variable conditions. Proposed drive unit of vehicle with cooling circuit contains hydrodynamic retarder brake with bladed wheel of rotor and bladed wheel of stator. Hydrodynamic retarder brake is arranged in cooling circuit of vehicle. Connected to vehicle cooling circuit is device to remove preset amount of working medium from cooling circuit at changing over from braking conditions of brake release conditions, and to supply preset amount of working medium into cooling circuit at changing over from brake release conditions into braking conditions.

EFFECT: reduced water hammers at changing over from braking to brake release conditions and vice versa.
