FIELD: the invention refers to testing of materials on wear and tear and may be used at evaluation of durability of strengthened surfaces and coverings at impacting on them with abrasive materials.
SUBSTANCE: two identical (of the geometrical form) samples are fulfilled out of standard material by way of forming of a strengthened layer (covering) on one of its end-face surfaces. For evaluation of the thickness of the strengthened layer one of the run-in sample is used. The second one of them is worn out by way of abrasion on the abrasive surface to the depth exceeding the thickness of the strengthened layer (covering). The wearing out of the standard material is executed after wearing out of the strengthened layer (covering). The changing of the linear dimensions of the sample after the running-in and wearing out is defined, according to their correlation they judge about the durability of the material of the strengthened layer (covering). Then abrasion of the standard material is made and the residual linear dimension of the sample is defined and relative durability is computed.
EFFECT: expands functional possibilities of testing of strengthened surfaces (coverings) on abrasive wearing out.
