FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to evaluation of mass wear during tribological tests of coatings, layers, inclusions of low thickness and can be used for evaluation of wear resistance of thin coatings. Method involves using a group of at least two identical coated samples, one of which wears at a depth greater than the thickness of the coating, with measurement of parameters of the sample before and after tests, testing all samples of the group, in which simultaneous measurement of weight before testing, then separate wear of samples is performed in identical conditions and simultaneous weighing of group samples is repeated, and value of relative wear resistance of coating material is determined from specified ratio.
EFFECT: enabling acceleration and higher accuracy of evaluation.
