FIELD: measuring technique.
SUBSTANCE: non-destructive testing instrument comprises basing device mounted on the rim of the wheel and additional roller that abuts against the fillet of the wheel. The cantilever provided with pickups is interposed between the rollers and mounted on the surface of the wheel to be tested. The pickups are locked with respect to the surface to be tested by means of spring-loaded locator. When the instrument moves, the pickups generate signals indicating the presence of stresses or cavities in the metal.
