FIELD: exhaust gas treatment catalysts.

SUBSTANCE: exhaust gas treatment catalyst comprises alumina with palladium oxide deposited thereon, said palladium oxide being at least in the form of Ln2PdO4, where Ln represents rare-earth element, and alumina is represented by LnAlO3, and wherein crystalline system of alumina is trigonal or rhombohedral. Preparation of catalyst includes (i) preparing at least one type of compounds selected from group comprising carboxylic acid having hydroxyl or mercapto group and 2 lo 20 carbon atoms, dicarboxylic acid having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, and monocarboxylic acid having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; (ii) adding at least one compound selected from indicated group of compounds to aqueous nitrate solution containing Al and rare-earth metal components; (iii) completely evaporating carboxylic acid(s) containing solution to form complex carboxylic acid(s) polymer; (iv) heating the latter to form alumina; and (v) and coating alumina by palladium oxide. Device incorporating exhaust gas treatment catalyst is also described.

EFFECT: enhanced exhausted gas treatment efficiency during automobile idling time at low temperatures.
