FIELD: radiography inspection.

SUBSTANCE: sample-simulators provided with grooves and openings of similar depth dΔref.d but with different width/diameter are mounted onto items to be inspected. Length of grooves lref.dgroove≥10 mm. Groove and openings correspond in width and diameter in pairs. Length lref.d and width bref.d of revealed real defects are measured on base of made shot and values (ΔD/γD)ref.d and (ΔD/γD)st.d are determined by means of photometry for reference and real defects with width of image being bigger or equal to required sensitivity k(mm)of inspection, where ΔD is contrast of image of defect; γD is contrast factor of radiographic film. After that value (ΔD/γD)ref.do of reference defect is selected, which corresponds in width b and length l to seen real defect. Then value Δdref.d is determined by using relation of Δdref.d=k3[(ΔD/γD)ref.d/(ΔD/γD)st.do]Δdst.d, where k3=1 for hollow-bodied defects and k3=μ/(μ-μd)≈ρ/(ρ-ρd)for defects with filling (slag); μ, μd, ρ, and ρd are linear coefficients of radiation attenuation and of density for basic metal and for matter which fills the defect in. Tolerance or intolerance off of revealed real defect is judged from achieved values of lref.d, bref.d, Δdref.d compared with correspond reference values.

EFFECT: improved reliability; higher precision of measurement of defects' sizes.
