FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machines for continuous transportation of loose materials, particularly, to devices for catching broken traction member of elevator. Proposed device has casing and lever mechanism. Plate is installed on two parallel rods fastened to wall inside casing between working and return runs of traction member for displacement in horizontal plane. Said plate is connected with casing by extension springs. Lever mechanism consists of two rods secured on axle for turning around axle. Working member in form of roller is fitted on end of one of two rods for rotation and touching inner part of traction member. End of other rod is bent and is in meshing with plate at normal operation of elevator.
EFFECT: increased service life of traction member, possibility of holding traction member at its breaking without slipping.
